A Basic Makeup Starter Kit : E.L.F.

Ok so in this post I'm going to be telling you about the basic products everyone needs to start off their makeup collection. To start, I'll do a starter kit from E.L.F. Cosmetics because their products are super affordable and easy to order off the internet. I'll number the products so you guys can print this out and tick them off as you get the products. Ok so let's jump right in!

1) FOUNDATION: Studio Flawless Finish Foundation $6
The reason why I picked this foundation is because of a few reasons. One being the price. Seriously, who turns down a foundation for $6?! Also, this foundation is oil free which is really good for your skin as it doesn't clog up pores. It also has an SPF of 15 which is always very handy to protect our delicate faces.

2) CONCEALER: Studio Maximum Coverage Concealer $3

The reason why I picked this concealer is because it provides blendable, wearable, customizable coverage for the face. The Oil Free formula is perfect for hiding tattoos, birth marks, dark circles, blemishes, scars and more.

3) POWDER: Studio Tone Correcting Powder $3

The reason for picking this powder is because we don't have a colour correcting primer, so it's always good to have some item for colour correcting in your makeup bag. Also this powder will hide shine and prevent oil from gathering on your face.

4) BLUSH & BRONZER: Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder $3
The reason for choosing this product is because there's a blush and also a bronzer in one case. This cuts down on the amount of space taken up by blush and bronzer in your makeup bag. Also because the two colours are super cute!

5) PRIMER: Studio Mineral Infused Face Primer $6

The reason for choosing this face primer is because every makeup bag needs a face primer and I like the packaging on this one and also the fact that it's a mineral infused primer.

6) HIGHLIGHTER: Essential Shimmering Facial Whip $1

The reason for choosing this product is because it has been compared to the Benefit Highbeam and I really really love that highlighter so I thought that this would be a great replacement.

For brushes, im not going to give reasons for why I picked them because I think most people use whatever brush they want to do the things they want. They don't always use them for what they're actually for so I wanted to let people decide what they could use these brushes for themselves!

7) BRUSHES
Studio Stipple Brush $3
Essential Fan Brush $1
Essential Blushing, Bronzing & Blending Brush $1
Essential Powder Brush $1
Essential Eyeshadow Brush $1
Essential Eye Blending Brush $1
Essential Concealer Brush $1
Essential Eyelash & Brow Wand $1
8) EYESHADOW: Essential Flawless Eyeshadow & Brush Set $3
The reason why I picked this is because it comes with a brush but also because it has 4 gorgeous shades and it tells you where to put each shade of eye shadow which is great for beginners but also professionals!

8) EYELINER: Essential Waterproof Eyeliner Pen $2
The reason for picking this is because waterproof products, although a nightmare to remove, stay all day and are handy because you never know when it could start raining or even just if someone accidentally spills their drink on you!

9) WHITE EYELINER: Essential Eye Widener $1
I picked product because it has a sharpener built in to the lid!

10) MASCARA: Studio Mineral Infused Mascara $3

I just adore products that have extra minerals in them! Also I really like this brush.

11) EYE PRIMER: Essential Primer Eyeshadow $2
I picked this product because it has a really easy to use applicator.

12) TWEEZERS: Essential Slant Tweezers $1
Who doesn't love a slanted tweezers to help you get those stubborn hairs?!

13) EYEBROWS: Studio Eyebrow Lifter & Filler $3
This is great because you can fill in your eyebrows and then highlight your brow bone to get that extra lift.

14) LASHES: Essential Natural Lash Kit $1
Great that the glue is included!

15) LIPSTICK: Essential Lipstick $1
Lipsticks are an essential. No need to justify this one!

16) LIPGLOSS: Essential Super Glossy Lip Shine $1
This colour is so cute and the gloss has a squeezy tube which means you can get the last bit out so there's no waste!

17) BAG: Essential Dump Bag $8
EVERYONE needs a makeup bag to store their bits and pieces and I just love the colour of this one!

So there it is, your complete starter makeup kit and bag! All for $58. I know it seems a lot but it's literally all you need to do your makeup!
I hope you enjoyed reading this and hope it helped you decide on what to buy.

Why Do I Love Makeup?! - Robyn

Hey guys!!

Ok so I thought I'd tell you guys why I'm actually in love with makeup!
I guess most of my reasons stem from the way makeup can transform your face into practically anything. Be it extreme makeup or just your daily makeup routine. I always get really excited when I put on makeup. Even though my daily makeup routine is practically the same each day, the results are always slightly different. It may look brighter one day, or last longer another. Another thing that I like is the vast selection of makeup to choose from.
Another reason why I adore makeup is probably because of Youtube. I could honestly spend HOURS watching beauty gurus on it. I don't ever seem to get fed up of watching how-to's, hauls and monthly favourites. Even though most of the gurus have the same products in their monthly favourites because they get ideas off each other.
Another reason is because I love how the love of makeup brings people together. People could have nothing in common except their love of makeup and suddenly they can talk for hours with each other.
Not only am I obsessed with makeup, but ALL beauty products. Nails, hair products and skincare. I always think that I feel much better when I look better. Call me shallow, but I think all women feel this way!
I hope I've made you feel better about loving makeup too!

REVIEW : CATRICE DEFINING BLUSH (030 love & peach)

Hey guys!

Today I'm going to review and highly recommend the Catrice defining blush! YAY!!
Ok so first of all, let me start  by saying wow. I was completely blown away by how amazing this product is. When I bought this, I was literally going crazy in my local Penneys (Primark in the U.K.!) and I was stocking up on some Essence and Catrice cosmetics. If you guys don't know what Catrice is, it's a fairly cheap makeup brand which does amazing products and I constantly repurchase their products. I was actually in there repurchasing one of their liquid eyeliners, when the row of blush's caught my eye. As you all know, I'm a blush addict! So I couldn't turn down the opportunity to buy another one. I needed a new coral blush so I decided on 030 love & peach. Even though all the other products are quite fab, for some reason I wasn't expecting much of this blusher. Well I was happily blown away. I literally tapped my blush brush into the blush, and was flabbergasted. Honestly. The colour pay-off on my face was unreal. I literally only needed the tiniest bit to get a good colour on my face. It's kind of hard to blend once on the cheeks but if you're careful about how you apply it, it's really an amazing product. I cannot speak highly enough of this blush and I will definitely be going back and buying the other five colours. For under 4euro, its so worth it.

REVIEW : MAC FIX+ SPRAY

Hey guys!

Before I bought this product, I found that my makeup was sliding off my face. Yes I know I have oily skin but even with a long lasting matte foundation, I found that it just didn’t last.

I had read some reviews of this product saying that it didn’t help their makeup stay on for the whole day, it just made their makeup look less cakey if they were wearing powder. I both agree and disagree because I wear powder to mattify my look, and the MAC Fix+ made my face look nice and dewy, while ALSO holding my makeup in place. The staying power of this product is usually only a small bit longer than if you didn’t wear it, but when you spray it on your face, it instantly revives your look, giving you a healthy looking glow. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to people with dry skin as it creates a false look of flawless skin for you. As I said, I have oily skin so I only spray one spray onto my face. If you have oily skin and you prefer a matte look, do not use this product! I really like how easy it is to spray this product onto your face and so far, fingers crossed, the spray hasn't broken on me!
I use this product three different ways. I know, that's amazing! One way is before I do anything to my face, after my moisturiser I spray it onto my face. I let it soak into my skin. I find this helps my moisturiser get really deep into my skin. The second way is if I was mixing two or more foundations together. I'd spray a bit into the cup of my hand, add what ever foundation I wanted to use, mix them together with a clean Q tip and then apply it to my face using whatever tool I feel like using. I find that this mixes the foundations together much better, giving a flawless look. The third way I use this product is to set my makeup. I just spritz it all over my face in one spray, leave it for a few seconds and then you're good to go!
I can honestly say that I look forward each day to spraying this on my face J

How To : Winged Eyeliner

In my opinion, winged eyeliner looks fab on all eye shapes. I think it can add that bit of glamour that we all lust after. Once practiced, it's a very easy look to achieve.

Step 1 : If you have unsteady hands, rest your elbows on a table. Begin by looking down at the ground at a sharp angle. Gently drag the liquid eyeliner pen along your upper lashline and continue the line past the outer corner of your eye, following the line of your lower lashline upwards. Stop where you feel is appropriate.
Step 2 : Now we gotta create the wing bit. Start at the outer corner of the line you just drew and work back towards your eye. You'll want to bring the wing about two thirds way back along your upper lashline to avoid cutting your eye in half. Metaphorically of course! Fill in the wing with really small, light strokes. This will avoid too many careless mistakes.
Step 3 : As you get nearer to your tear duct, draw a thinner line of eyeliner. You want the effect of the liner to be thin to thick from the inner corner to the outer tip of the wing.
Step 4 : To complete the look, follow the natural shape of your eye with the liner all around the tear duct. If you want a smoky effect, use a kohl pencil on your bottom waterline which also adds definition to your eyes.
Remember! Practice makes perfect so if you mess up on the first try, don't quit. Practice before you wash your makeup off and I bet you'll get the hang of it in no time!
Enjoy your new look!

Hair styles for different face shapes

In this post we'd like to give you some tips on the type of hairstyles you can rock for each face shape. We also included a few celebrities who have that particular face shape into each section so you can compare your face shape to that. Now, scroll down to the bottom of this post and have a look at the picture of all five face shapes together. From the picture try judge what your face shape is and then check the first part of each face shape in detail to see if your face shape matches the description, if so skip to your face shape and check out what styles are best for you.

SQUARE:

Forehead and angular jawline are roughly the same width

Celebrities: Jennifer Aniston, Sandra bullock

With a square shaped face you want to draw attention away from you strong jawline therefore keeping your hair at a longer length with maybe some soft waves or very loose curls. With the face shape you want to avoid cutting bangs as they will draw attention to your jawline. Try to open up your face don't use your hair to cover your face, try having it parted to one side which will soften up your faces angles. Before I did say that it's better to keep your hair at a longer length but if you really do want shorter hair try a wavy bob, the curls will break up the lines of your face.

OVAL:

Your forehead and jawline are a similar width and your face is long.

Celebrities: Jessica alba, Sarah Jessica Parker

Consider yourself very lucky if you have this face shape, you can pretty much rock any hairstyle you can think of. Most hairstyles will flatter your face shape. There's not much I can say about this one try whatever you like, although there is one thing to consider, if you have a smaller forehead steer clear of bangs and if your forehead is longer bangs are key, they'll prevent your face looking too long.

ROUND:

Your cheeks are full and wider than your jaw and forehead.

Celebrities: Drew Barrymore, Kate Winslet

As your face already has enough width you want to wear your hair quite long to narrow your face out. With this face shape you should steer clear of too many layers as it will add unnecessary horizontal volume. You can get long layers but just stay away from anything too drastic. Also, add a little volume to the top of your head so it's not too flat and plastered to your head. This will draw the eye up. You could try a middle parting with some waves.

HEART-SHAPED:

You have a wider forehead and cheekbones and a narrow jawline

Celebrities: Michelle Pfeiffer, Jennifer love Hewitt

With this face shape you definitely want to try some sort of soft side parted bangs. Make sure they're not too blunt and straight this will make your chin look pointy and you want to avoid that. Try having a medium length with choppy bangs any style that's too long will pull down your chin.

LONG AND NARROW:

Your face is narrow from temple to chin and long

Celebrities: Liv Tyler, Gisele Bundchen

You could try a long bob to counteract the length or if you prefer your hair longer you could try a wavy style with some layers to add volume and a nice shape. When getting these layers you want to make sure that the longest layer is just below your chin. Bangs work well with this face shape too as they break up the length of your face.

The Benefits Of A Face Primer

Hey guys!

So a lot of you have been emailing us asking is there a point in spending money on makeup primers. One word answer : YES! Here's a few benefits of using a face primer. Enjoy!
Ok so makeup primer is a gel or cream applied onto your face after moisturiser and before foundation. The purpose of a primer is to provide a smooth surface on which to apply makeup. Some primers also help your makeup stay in place, which is super important during these hot summer months!
Different brand of primers provide different benefits. One could give you smooth, flawless skin while also being a colour corrector while another could give you a smooth complexion while also decreasing breakouts and prevent dryness.
Face primers contain the ingredient Silica which controls shine. This is really good for people with oily or combination type skin because it means your makeup can go on smoothly and you won't have to worry about excess shine once you set your foundation. Primers definitely make makeup application a whole lot easier!
Benefits:
• reduce blemish scars
• reduce pimples
• reduce redness
• even out skin tone
• lock in moisture
• protect from sun damage
• smooth skin
• easier makeup application

Some of our fave primers! :
- Sally Hansen Natural Beauty $19.99
- Smashbox Photo Finish (SPF 15) $42
- Tarte Clean Slate $ 27

Yes, we know these primers are quite expensive unforch, but they last so long once used properly.
So that's what you need to know about makeup primers. If you want to know more just email us!
